Shooting has been a thing that the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad is known for. Coach Troy Pearson has said the last two seasons that his team is a three point shooting team and the Panthers have already put up 162 three point shots, which is 12th in class 3A. While the shots are going up, they are not always coming down the way they would like. Pearson is not concerned as he knows many of his guys who are struggling in games, are making those shots in practice, and eventually they will translate to the game.
Pearson: “I think it’s a combination of things translating practice into games. Some of it is game reps. It’s a different atmosphere in practice than in games, you’re not putting pressure on yourself in front of friends and family, I think we’ll get there.”
The Panthers 50 three point makes rank them 2nd in the South Central Conference. Statewide, they are 14th in Class 3A. Knoxville’s next game is January 3rd at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont which will be a showdown for 1st place in the South Central Conference.
