The year 2022 was near normal in terms of temperature but below average for precipitation, according to data from the National Weather Service.

The average temperature over the last year was 49.1 for Marion County, which is about a degree less than the 30-year climate average of 50.

In terms of precipitation, the region received an estimated 28 inches of total rainfall or snowmelt, about nine inches lower than the typical year (37). According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor report, the vast majority of Marion and Warren Counties are rated as abnormally dry, with extreme northern portions of both remaining in moderate drought.
