The Indianola YMCA had a record year in terms of attendance, and a growing number of programs for kids, families, and older adults. Executive Director Heather Hulen tells KNIA News one of the biggest changes is having the certified Red Cross Swimming Lessons program in place.

“So now we offer the American Red Cross lessons. We are excited to have the same types and lessons that are happening with Indianola Parks and Rec. Our friends and partners teach swimming lessons throughout the summer, and we can pair that now year round, and can even share staff such as lifeguards.”

Hulen also said programs shared with Parks and Rec such as the Junior Lifeguard Program really expands their ability to connect with kids and families.
