The Pella Christian girls basketball team entered the season with the hopes of improving their shooting percentages from last winter, but so far have not seen those expectations come to fruition.
Shooting 29.7% from the field and 25.9% from three-point range during the 2021-2022 season, the Eagles have seen those numbers drop to 28.8% and 23.1% this season. Pella Christian improved those percentages Monday night in their 41-29 win over Albia, connecting on 30.2% of their shots from the floor and 28% of their three-pointers. Senior Karlie Anderson believes that Monday night could be a turning point for the Eagles and says that a lot of practice time has gone into working on improving their shooting.
“Yeah, this season hasn’t gone like we planned for shooting wise. Our percentages are just not where we wanted to be. But we have spent time and time and time again just in the gym just rep after rep and coach say let them fly and that’s what we got to keep doing. That’s what shooters do; they shoot.”
