The Iowa Legislature passed the Students First Act last week, creating Educational Savings Accounts for students to use approximately $7,600 in state funds to attend private schools. State Representative Brooke Boden tells KNIA News she understands that many school administrators are against the bill, but she still fully supports the measure.

“I can understand, it is something that is a major change from what they’ve been working with. There is a lot of apprehension and I think fear that falls into this. But when you really start to look at the bill, I think it is completely appropriate. We can support our public schools and provide parent choice, and this bill accomplishes both of those. So as we move forward I think a lot of those fears will be alleviated.”
