Pleasantville and Saydel battled tooth and nail from start to finish Thursday night in non-conference varsity boys basketball in Pleasantville. Through three quarters Saydel led 42-41.
At the end of the evening the Eagles pulled out a 60-51 win over Coach Taylor Phipps Pleasantville Trojans. The loss dropped the Trojans to 11-10 overall entering the first round of the playoffs.
Mason Hicks led all scorers in the game with 27 points for Saydel and Cade Boten netted 22. Pleasantville was paced by Dayson Leerhoff with 24 points and Trent Jolly added 10 followed by Parker Sheets with nine.
The game was close all the way, the Trojans led 17-12 at the end of first quarter. The contest was knotted at 28 at halftime.
It was Senior Night in Pleasantville and all three seniors on the Trojan roster were in the starting lineup, Parker Sheets, Peyton Major and Jonah Schumacher.
