The National Weather Service has issued its first of three spring flood outlooks for the entire state. According to Senior Hydrologist Jeff Zogg, the risk for river and long-term flooding this upcoming spring is low, due to factors relating to streamflows, snowpack, frost depth, and precipitation received this winter. Zogg says while drought conditions have been largely lifted locally, many other factors relating to water remain below normal heading into the growing season. Zogg also notes that the outlook they issue each spring is meant to predict river flooding, and that flash flooding from winter storms or heavy rain is always a threat.
