Pella Historical Society and Museums has announced that Assistant Director Jessi Vos has been named the new Executive Director, set to follow Valerie Van Kooten’s transitioning out of the role the end of August.
Vos has been Assistant Director at PHM since June 2019, where her role included oversight of social media, memberships, and exhibits in the Museums. She played a crucial role in many projects including the renovation and restoration of both the Boyhood Home of Wyatt Earp and the Scholte House.
Vos is a Pella native; she graduated from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich., with degrees in history and organizational communication. She had previously worked and interned for the Historic Pella Trust and Calvin’s Heritage Hall Archives, where she remains an advisory committee member. She is currently the chairperson of Visit Pella.
“I am thrilled to be moving into the role of Executive Director at Pella Historical,” Vos says. “I look forward to continuing to tell Pella’s story alongside our hardworking staff, dedicated Board, and engaged community members.”
Van Kooten will leave the position to begin a grant consultancy for non-profits. She and Vos will work together during the transition phase to ensure a smooth rollover.
“The Pella Historical Board is excited to see Jessi step into the role of Executive Director,” says Derek De Haan, President of PHM. “Her passion and creativity for all things Pella Historical will continue to add value now and into the future.”
