The Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad will start its tournament trail Monday with a game in Wayne against Mormon Trail. Like the girls squad, the boys also begin against the fellow Bluegrass Conference squad that bears their nickname. The two Saints finished within one game of each other in the conference standings with Mormon Trail posting a 7-2 record and Melcher-Dallas at 6-3. Coach John Suntken tells KNIA Sports this draw is better for his team than last season, and now it is time to show everyone what they are made of.

Suntken: “It’s a tough district. Probably the most logical geographically in the long time. I’m optimistic and I know these kids can put it together, we just have to hit on all cylinders to get it done.”

The two Saints squared off on January 17th with Mormon Trail coming out with a 55-52 win. Tip off is set for 7:00 at Wayne High School.
