It was a smooth night of work for the Pella Christian girls basketball team as they dispatched Cardinal 61-35 in the opening round of the Class 2A regional playoffs Saturday, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Eagles girls held the Comets without a made basket from the field through the first 12 minutes of action, building at one point an 18-1 lead before Cardinal found any footing on the court. Pella Christian forced 17 first half turnovers to build a 30 point advantage by the break, and briefly got the margin to 35 to get the continuous clock moving in the 3rd quarter and all varsity players saw action on the floor at one point.
Joslyn Terpstra scored 22 points in her final game on the court at Eagle Lane, and Karlie Anderson added 13 points in her send-off from her home gym. Pella Christian improves to 5-17 overall and will next head to #3 in 2A Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday, a game that can be heard on 92.1 KRLS.
