The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday. With Ed Bull resigning as Marion County Attorney, the board had the option of holding a special election or filling the vacancy. The board decided to appoint a new Marion County Attorney. The board is recommending Jared Harmon, currently First Assistant County Attorney, for the position, but before doing so the board must publish a notice to fill the vacancy by appointment. Harmon is expected to be appointed to the position at the next board meeting February 28.

.Marion County Lobbyist Kellie Paschke discussed some Legislative issues from the capitol. Among the issues discussed is the state department of revenue has overcharged taxpayers. Supervisor Mark Raymie tells KNIA/KRLS News, we want our taxpayers to get their money back if an error has occurred on property taxes.

A Civil Service Commission Appointment  was made with Bruce Lefler filling the position. Discussion also took place on a Travis Trust investment. It was decided to transfer funds to make a higher rate of return in a CD. 

The Annex Building, located at 104 S. Sixth Street, will be prepared for the Board of Supervisors to sell the facility.

Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian gave an update on the road department. Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News his department is looking at ways they can better serve the public. They are considering a public survey and they are working on a guide for rural living.

The update noted that so far this winter, through Tuesday, his county road department has been out with the plows 11 times and the average for the winter is 17.
