Curt Froyen, Commander with the American Legion Baty Tucker Post 168 in Knoxville says they are currently accepting scholarships for the American Legion Scholarships.

Froyen tells KNIA/KRLS they typically hand out around six to eight scholarships every year. The scholarships are valued around $400 to $500.

Froyen added, “There is one requirement, we do expect the student has to have had a family member who has served on active duty in the military.”

The students do the applications through the counselors office at the high school. The deadline for applications is March 1.
