The Knoxville Girls basketball Squad will take on Carlisle on Saturday in the class 4A regional semi-final. The Panthers beat Newton on Wednesday to advance while the Wildcats received a bye and were actually at Knoxville Wednesday night scouting the Panthers. Carlisle and Knoxville are both improved from last season and Panthers Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he feels his team’s experience will be helpful in trying to pull the upset on Saturday.
Ritchhart: “If we had an ESPN Score Predictor. we would be a major underdog. They brought back a lot of players from last year, we also brought back a lot of players from last year. We are going to go up there and give it our all.”
The Wildcats went 14-7 on the season and finished 3rd in the always tough Raccoon River Conference. Carlisle also holds a 9-3 advantage in the series between the Wildcats and Knoxville since 2001 with Carlisle taking the last game played between the two teams in last season’s class 4A regional first round game 58-28.
