A winter storm dumped heavy snow across south central Iowa. According to several storm reports submitted to the National Weather Service, most locations in Marion and Warren Counties received between six to nine inches of snow:

Many area businesses, schools, and organizations closed altogether or altered hours, and several crashes were reported throughout the region. Travel may remain difficult this morning due to cold air and the amount of snow that was received.
A bounce back into the 40s for daytime temperatures is expected by Saturday and will likely continue well into next week.
