The Dutch men look to lock up the first seed and a regular season conference championship today, while the Storm women aim for their 43rd straight win in the rivalry series as Central College visits Simpson in an American Rivers Conference doubleheader.

The Central men need only a win over Simpson to guarantee the regular season championship, and will try to replicate the effort of their 73-64 win over the Storm in the first matchup, limiting Simpson to just 36% from the field and 22% from long range. The Storm men have to win and get some help, as they currently occupy the 7th spot in the standings a game behind Coe, and need a win, a Coe loss to Nebraska Wesleyan, and a Luther win over Dubuque to create a three-way tie.

The Storm women needed overtime to continue the winning streak that dates back to the 2002-2003 season, barely scraping by with an 83-79 victory that required a fourth quarter comeback to force the extra period. The Storm had issues stopping Central’s Allison Van Gorp inside, as she scored 24 points and grabbed 13 boards, and assistant coach Claire Johnson said Simpson can’t worry about seeding, the win streak, or other events going on, they just need to focus on this game and what they need to do to win it.

The Storm women are guaranteed either the third or fourth seed in the conference tournament, depending on the results of this game and Coe vs Nebraska Wesleyan. Central has been eliminated from the tournament.

The games will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA and 92.1 KRLS, with Andrew Swadner and Tyler Crabb on the call. Pregame starts at 1:45, tip-off is at 2pm.
