As they prepare for the Class 2A Substate 6 Final on Saturday night, the Pella Christian boys basketball team is emphasizing rebounding ahead of their showdown with #6 ranked West Burlington.

With a trip back to Wells Fargo Arena on the line, Pella Christian senior guard Aiden Stoltz knows that rebounding will be crucial to return to the State Tournament.

“Just staying focused and rebounding, that’s a big key. We’ve talked about rebounding all year. We rely on our rebounding. However good we’re rebounding, then that’s how good we are in our games.”

The Eagles, who enter Saturday’s contest with a 14-9 record on the season, have gone 13-2 when either outrebounding or matching their opponents on the glass. Conversely, Pella Christian is just 1-7 on the season in games that their opponents have pulled down more boards. On the year, the Eagles hold an average rebounding advantage of 32-24 over the Falcons of West Burlington.

The Eagles and Falcons meet at Oskaloosa High School for a 7 p.m. tip-off in the Class 2A Substate 6 Final Saturday night, and the game can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
