One of the highlights of the Pella boys wrestling team’s winter season was the final year in a decorated career of one of their seniors. Peyton Ritzert was able to battle back in the District meet in Carlisle to earn a 3rd place finish and his first career state wrestling bid on February 11th. His appearance among Iowa’s best capped four seasons that saw the talented Pella Christian football starter and state track and field qualifier trade in his maroon and gold for green and white in the winter, and earn 100+ wins on the mat while doing so. Pella Head Coach Jay Pike is thankful to have had Peyton lead this year’s team and to have Ritzert get a state tournament appearance and victory to cap an impressive time in the program.
