Warren County Law Enforcement Offices, including the Indianola, Carlisle, and Norwalk Police Departments and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau, will have extra enforcement on the roads today for St. Patrick’s Day. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Division, St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most dangerous periods for drunk driving deaths, with 287 lives lost from 2016-2020. Grant funds will provide extra officers on patrol in addition to officers on duty. It is always recommended to never drive when impaired, and encouraged to make arrangements with a sober drive to travel.
