The Simpson College Speech and Debate Team is once again national champions, as they posted the top Debate Sweepstakes score at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament held earlier this month. The Storm placed first in the Debate Sweepstakes, and third in the Overall Speech and Debate Combined scoring, only behind Western Kentucky and the University of Alabama.

The Simpson win included two individual national titles and four runner-up finishes, with Alyssa Beckwith earning National Champion Speaker honors in Public Forum Debate, and Sydni Power was the tournament Champion in Student Congress. Mo Marks in Extemporaneous Speaking and the duo of Ryan Corcoran and Abby Fry for Open Public Forum Debate were national runners-up in their respective categories.
