The Indianola girls soccer team travels to Southeast Polk tonight, looking to keep up their win streak after defeating Knoxville in their season opener earlier this week. The Indians got four goals from four different athletes while pitching a shutout against the Panthers, and will need to maintain that level of attack and defense against a Rams team that won 10-0 over Des Moines Lincoln in their season opener. Head coach Erin Ebling tells KNIA Sports she feels really good about the work the squad did in the offseason, and it has allowed them to be ahead of schedule in the early parts of the season.
“They are more aware of the field, they are more aware of the game in general and they know how it’s played. That just helps when we go to try and start, they are all on the same page. It has been a little less coaching in the preseason so we can focus more on skills we need to focus on, I don’t need to focus on the normal preseason coaching because they already have it down from the fall.”
Kickoff is tonight at 6:15pm.
