It didn’t take long for the Pella Christian boys golf team to achieve their goal of winning a tournament, as they claimed the top spot in their first tournament of the season at Saydel Friday morning. The Pella boys golf team also competed at the Saydel tournament and brought home a fourth-place finish.

With the weather holding off long enough to get the tournament completed, the Eagles shot the tournament low score of 306 while the Dutch posted a team score of 330.

Pella Christian’s Cooper Spronk and Eliot Menninga each carded a 74, with two other players in tournament, but Spronk claimed the individual medalist honor after using the card back system to break the tie. Isaiah Breems tied for the third lowest score and took eighth overall on the day with a 78 and Deacon Branderhorst rounded out the team scoring with a solid 80.  Dane Geetings and Landon Fransman weren’t far behind, shooting an 82 and an 86 respectively in the first meet of the season.

A.J. Hoekstra led the way for the Pella boys, tying for the third lowest score and taking seventh overall in the meet after carding a 78. Cade McGinley finished just outside the top ten in 11th place with a score of 79. Rounding out the scoring for the Dutch was Thomas Tangen with an 85, Luke Keitges with an 88, Cole Floden with a 90, and Luke Naig with a 90.
