After Friday’s severe weather outbreak pushed their three-game set back a day, the Central and Simpson College baseball teams square off today in a single game at Central.
The Dutch are looking to turn their fortunes around today, as they have struggled since their first game during their Florida Spring Break trip. After opening the season 4-0, Central has won just three of their last 12 games. Meanwhile, the Storm have been on fire since going to Florida. Opening the season 1-5, Simpson has since gone 9-2 since their first game in the RussMatt Invitational. The series history is deadlocked at 70-70, but the Storm won last season’s three-game series two games to one. Central won the first game in Pella last season with a 5-4 walk-off win, but Simpson claimed their two home games against the Dutch with 4-3 and 2-1 victories.
First pitch between Central and Simpson today in Pella is scheduled for 3 p.m., and can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, 94.3 KNIA, and KNIAKRLS.com. The two teams will then play a doubleheader in Pella tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m.
