Five Indianola spring sports teams are in action Monday, with boys and girls tennis competing in triangulars, and girls and boys track and boys soccer on the road. The Indians girls tennis team travels to Urbandale for a triangular meet with the host J-Hawks as well as Des Moines Lincoln in their season opener, while the boys tennis team hosts Lincoln and Urbandale for their home opener. Head coach Jamie Busby tells KNIA Sports the Indians have a lot of newcomers playing varsity this year, and that means a lot of competition in practice every day as the team battles for spots, which she believes will be a huge benefit at the end of the season.

The Indians girls track and field team travels to Waukee Northwest for the NW Girls Invitational in a meet rescheduled from later this week, the boys will travel to Boone for a five-team meet, and the boys soccer team will try to build off of a massive win in their season opener against Lewis Central with a trip to face the Huskies of Des Moines Hoover. The tennis meets are at noon, girls track starts at 4, boys track at 4:30, and boys soccer at 7pm.
