A busy week lays ahead for the spring sports teams at Pella Christian, with 16 varsity sports events on the docket Monday through Thursday.

Starting on Monday, the Eagles’ girls and boys tennis teams each host Albia while the girls soccer team is on the road at Knoxville. The Pella Christian girls soccer team then has a quick turnaround, competing on Tuesday at home against Newton. Head coach Mike Buchheit says that while back-to-back games could be challenging for the girls, their taking it one game at a time.

“Last year we lost to Knoxville 1-0. While we’ve had our share of success against Knoxville, we’re not taking Knoxville for granted. We need to play that game well and play them tough, and we need to do some things well in that game to help improve our confidence. So, we’re going to give them what we need to from a lineup standpoint to make sure we take care of that game before we start thinking about Newton on Tuesday.”

The Pella Christian boys tennis team also has back-to-back matches as they face Pella on Tuesday. Also competing on Tuesday are the Eagles track and field squads at Davis County and the boys soccer team at Newton. The P.C. girls tennis team has the lone event on Wednesday hosting Pella before a busy Thursday ensues. All the Eagles’ spring sports teams compete Thursday, with the boys golf team kicking off the day in the Dutch Invite. Also in action will be the Pella Christian tennis teams against Oskaloosa, the track and field teams at North Mahaska, and the soccer teams hosting Centerville.

This week’s action for the Pella Christian spring sports teams begins Monday with the girls tennis match at home versus Albia at 4:15 p.m., followed by the boys home tennis match at 6:15 p.m. The Eagles girls soccer game at Knoxville is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
