Tuesday’s triangular with Clarke and Carlisle was called off due to the threat of rain and severe weather for the Knoxville Girls Golf Squad. While expectations are not quite as high as they are for the boys squad, Coach Barry Smith still wants to see the girls improve throughout the season and keep building up the program. Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, he had good turnouts during the offseason and is already seeing the progress his girls are making now that they have had a chance to get outside.
Smith: “Seeing them participate in open gym over the winter and seeing them now that we’ve got outside and hit, they gradually improve. We’re not going to be world beaters, but if we improve like we have been, we’ll be very competitive this year.”
In the Panthers lone meet of the season so far…they shot a team total of 243 with Faith Roozeboom leading the way with a 53. Knoxville’s next time on the links is Monday in a triangular at Clarke with Chariton.
