The Indianola City Council gave direction to city staff to move forward with a sewer rate adjustment from a base rate of $18 to $25, which includes the first 1,000 gallons, and a usage rate increase from $9.85 per 1,000 gallons to $11.50 per 1,000 gallons. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News as the city has grown and replaced sewer lines, an adjustment was necessary.

“It’s always hardest in its first year, it’s always the most difficult because it’s the smallest pool of residents and businesses that we are spreading it across. But each and every year as our community continues to grow we will have the capacity to take care of that. That growth will make sure the burden is spread over a greater number of people.”
