Linahon, Baldwin on All-Conference Wrestling Squad

The American Rivers Conference released its all-conference wrestling awards Wednesday and a pair of Central College wrestlers received accolades.

All-conference honors were handed out to the top-three finishers amongst league competitors at the NCAA Division III Central Regional meet that took place on February 24-25.

Gage Linahon was the runner-up at 197 pounds and Pierre Baldwin was fifth overall at 141 pounds but was third amongst conference athletes. Linahon was 23-8 on the season and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships. Baldwin finished with a 23-7 record.

Central Moves Up in Softball Rankings

The Central College softball team inched forward again to No. 17 in the latest NFCA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Dutch extended their win streak to seven games with a 4-0 week to improve to 19-3. Three American Rivers Conference teams are now in the top 25 with Coe College (17-3) at No. 21 and Luther College (19-3) at No. 24.

Central opens conference play Friday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader with Wartburg College at Waverly.
