Pella Christian Girls Track and Field Wins the Steve Ehert Relays, Boys Take 2nd
Trailing by 3.5 points entering the final event, the Pella Christian girls 4×400 meter relay team of Amaia Agre, Josie Settles, Anna DeBoef, and Bailey Vos won the event by 20 seconds to claim the team title at North Mahaska Steve Ehert Relays with 124.5 points. The Eagle boys nearly claimed the team title in the same fashion but finished 146.5 points which was 1.5 points behind North Mahaska.
In addition to winning the 4×400 meter relay, the Pella Christian girls had several other top finishes in the meet, including:

Another school record fell for the Pella Christian boys, as Trevor Veenstra now stands alone atop the record book in throwing events. After breaking the Eagles’ shot put record earlier in the season, the junior overtook his older brother Blake’s discus record by five feet while winning the event by 49 feet with a throw of 178’2”. Pella Christian Boys Golf Claims 2nd at the Dutch Invite
The Pella Christian boys golf team nearly claimed their second team title in as many meets Thursday, finishing just four strokes back of reigning Class 3A State Champions Gilbert in the Dutch Invite.
Carding a team score of 325 on the day, the Eagles were led by a strong showing from Eliot Menninga. The sophomore shot a 74 at Bos Landen Golf Course, claiming third place individually in the meet. Isaiah Breems, Dane Geetings, and Deacon Branderhorst weren’t far behind Menninga on the day. Breems shot an 80 in the meets, while Geetings and Branderhorst posted an 84 and 85 respectively. Cooper Spronk and Landon Fransman rounded out the scoring with a 93 and a 96.
The Pella Christian golf squad will look to continue their hot start to the season on Tuesday, competing in the first round of the Little Hawkeye Conference meet at Oskaloosa’s Edmundson Golf Course.
Eagles Girls Soccer Escapes with Win Versus Centerville, Boys Soccer Match Canceled
The Pella Christian girls soccer team escaped with a 1-0 home win over Centerville Thursday night, while the boys soccer match was canceled due to a lack of players being available for the Big Reds.
Facing a Centerville squad that packed the box defensively, the Eagle girls managed to out shot their opponent 7-1 in the match. After a scoreless first half, Joslyn Terpstra’s corner kick in the 63rd minute found Jenna Edel who found the back of the net to break the tie and ultimately give Pella Christian the win.
The Eagle girls improved to 3-0-1 on the season. Both teams return to the soccer pitch on Monday for 5:30 p.m. matches against Des Moines Christian. The P.C. girls host the Lions, while the boys play at Des Moines Christian.
Eagles Boys and Girls Tennis Sweep Oskaloosa
The Pella Christian boys tennis bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to Pella with a 10-1 win at Oskaloosa, while the Eagles girls tennis team downed the Indians 8-3 on Eagle Lane.
The P.C. boys started their match strong at Oskaloosa, claiming five of the six matches in singles play. The Eagles proceeded to sweep the doubles matches to cap off the victory over the Indians. The Pella Christian girls tennis squad grabbed the advantage in singles play by winning four of the six matches, before sealing the victory with four wins in the five doubles matches.
