After finally getting their season underway on Thursday, the Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad will head to their first Saturday meet today. The Panthers will play in the Saydel Invitational along with Centerville and Southwest Valley. The Panthers are very inexperienced this season with many girls in their first year of tennis. Coach Nick DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS some of those first year players are not freshmen. While he likes the interest from new players, he is trying to get more freshmen to come out and stay the full four years.
DeMoss: “We just have to build our program with freshmen coming out that first year. We have a lot of sophomores, juniors and seniors that are in their first year. We need those freshmen to come out and then some realize that tennis is fun and they stay all four years.”
Knoxville defeated Centerville on Thursday for its first win of the season and was the Panthers season opener.
