The Knoxville School Board met Monday in regular session.

The board hired Barry and Carmen Smith as concessions managers, and considered resignations and transfers.

The Knoxville Youth Activities Alliance (KYAA) gave a presentation to the board showing an interest in an effort to put in an indoor sports facility at the old administration building. KYAA wants to put in turf so the facility can be used for baseball, softball, indoor soccer, football and golf to name a few. Estimated costs for turf, nets and simulators will cost around $105,000 according to Tyler Pearson who presented the proposal.

Knoxville Superintendent Cassl Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS about KYAA, “They would like to turn the old administration building into an indoor turf facility.”

The board approved the purchase of  transfinder software for the transportation department. According to Knoxville Superintendent Cassi Pearson the new system will help with school safety, security and communication for those riding the bus. The three-year cost for the program will be $58,000.

The board approved the certified budget, a summer school proposal, and board policies. Following closed session the board approved Iowa Realty to market the old administration building.
