The City of Pella was selected to receive 100 bulbs of the tulip variety “Nightmare” from Holland for this spring’s bloom. This rare variety is considered to be the darkest tulip, turning from dark purple to black, according to the Pella Parks Department, and only 215 of these tulips were sent to North America in the Fall of 2022. Parks Director Chandler Nunnikhoven says the bloom will be in Central Park, but they won’t specify which bed until they are in full bloom. Click here for the latest bloom status.
