For the first time, the teams of the Little Hawkeye Conference were invited to compete at the state track and field meet venue before the Drake Relays. The annual Jim Duncan Invitational highlighted the best of central Iowa’s Class 3A and 4A conferences, and Pella, Norwalk, and Indianola took advantage of the chance to run, jump, and throw at the famous Blue Oval. Traditionally, the meet has served as a showcase of the Central Iowa Metro League, but in 2023 and going forward, the Little Hawkeye, Raccoon River, and Iowa Alliance Conference are now also invited.

Lightning and heavy rain cut off the festivities mid-afternoon, but before the weather washed away the final events, the trio of KNIA/KRLS area schools had several highlights throughout the day. No team scores were kept and not all events were completed. Click here for full results.
