Lawmakers have just two weeks before the scheduled end of the Iowa Legislative Session, and for those not serving on the appropriations or ways and means committees, they remain in a holding pattern until called back to Des Moines.
That’s the status of State Senator Ken Rozenboom, who prior to this General Assembly served on appropriations, and while he was in the spotlight as the chair of the Senate Education committee, most of that work is now complete until 2024.
Rozenboom says the rest of what’s left to do is to iron out any potential differences in the budget between the Iowa House and Senate.
Rozenboom also says work is ongoing to settle on an agreement for Senate File 496, a bill that has sweeping changes as it relates to restrictions of teaching gender identity, school library programs and how to challenge materials, and other changes to the way parents and districts interact.
