The Indianola City Council approved the purchase of land on the east side of the downtown Indianola square at their meeting Monday, what is currently occupied by Regents Bank, IMPACT, and Optimae Life Services on the square and the Regents Bank parking lot behind the building, for a future City Hall/Public Safety building. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the plan is still very early in the planning stages, and very few things are decided as of now.

“There are things that are fairly solid, like preparing for the construction of a new public safety building which we are going to start engaging with architects and getting it ready for a ballot referendum. Then there are aspects that are very visionary, which are going to be several years out and require additional community engagement and additional votes in the future.”

Reeves also said that despite so much being undecided about the totality of the project, he wanted to get a vision out to the public so they can look forward to and help plan the project over the coming years.
