Pella Christian Girls Tennis Edges Indianola, Boys Tennis Fell to the Indians
The Class 1A #8 ranked Pella Christian girls tennis team narrowly edged Indianola for a 6-5 road victory Thursday night, while the Eagles boys tennis squad fell at home to the Indians 9-2.
The Pella Christian girls tennis team escaped with the win by claiming four singles and two doubles matches. The Eagles’ singles victories came in the #2-#5 spots in the lineup from Claire Vander Molen (6-2, 6-3), Sydney Van Arendonk (6-2, 6-1), Rachel Lanferman (6-2, 3-6, 1-0), and Reagan DeVries (2-6, 6-1, 1-0). Claiming the two doubles contest for Pella Christian were Katy Roose and Van Arendonk (6-4, 7-5) at #1 and Emily Van Soelen and Ava Breems (6-7, 6-1, 1-0) at #5. The Eagles improved to 6-1 on the season with the win.
Back on Eagle Lane, the Pella Christian boys managed to pick up a win apiece in singles and doubles play, but lost the match. Isaac Natelborg (7-6, 6-2) grabbed the lone singles match victory for the Eagles at #2. The doubles win for Pella Christian came from Tristan Bos and Zeb Kanis (6-1, 6-4) in the #5 spot in the lineup. With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 6-3 on the season.
Up next for the Pella Christian tennis teams is Dallas Center-Grimes. The Eagle boys host the Mustangs, while the girls compete at DCG, with both contest beginning at 4:15 p.m on Tuesday.

Pella Christian Girls Soccer Dominates Chariton
It was a rout Thursday night for the Pella Christian girls soccer team, as they cruised past Chariton in a 10-0 win.
The Eagles were in control throughout the night, scoring seven first half goals and outshooting the Chargers 17-5 in the game. Lexi Terpstra scored four goals in the win, with three coming in the opening nine minutes, and fell one goal shy of setting the school record for goals in a single game. Older sister Joslyn Terpstra also netted a hat trick with three goals and added three assists, which was one shy of tying the single game school record. Jenna Edel contributed two goals in the win and Hattie Fancher added her first goal of the season.
The Pella Christian girls improved to 4-3-1 and return to the pitch Tuesday at Indianola for a 5:30 p.m. match.
