As the camping and outdoor recreation season rapidly approaches, a group each year gathers and supports the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Red Rock. Park Rangers Jessica Huston and Tracy Spry say there are a wide range of tasks for volunteers to perform each year, from greeting visitors, to collecting fees, planting flowers, performing grounds maintenance, painting picnic tables, and more. In return for their service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offers a free, full-service campsite, volunteer shirts, and what is needed to perform the service. Read more about how to become a volunteer at Lake Red Rock and what opportunities are currently available here, and listen to the In Depth Podcast with Dr. Bob Leonard to hear more about the benefits.
