The Simpson softball team split an American Rivers Conference doubleheader Saturday with Loras, falling 3-2 in game one but exploding on offense in game two winning 10-4. Neither team pushed a run across in game one until the fourth inning when a Duhawk two-run blast put Loras up 2-0. Simpson got a run back when Megan Heidelbauer hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning, but Loras answered in the top half of the fourth by taking advantage of a walk and a Storm error to take a 3-1 lead. Rylee Purvis hit a solo home run to get Simpson back within a run, but that would be all the offense would muster.

Game two saw the Storm fall behind 4-1 after 2.5 innings, only scoring on an RBI double from Zoe Baker. In the bottom of the third inning however, as Baker hit another RBI single, and the squad scored another run on a sacrifice before a two-run blast by Kate Kriegel put the Storm in front 5-4. The long balls kept coming after that, with Maddie Luderman, Karlie Hill, and Heidelbauer all hitting solo home runs, with Lexi Ehlers driving in another run. Kylee Tucker came on in relief in the third inning, pitching 4.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

Simpson is now 20-12 overall and 3-7 in conference play, and next plays Luther on the road on Friday.
