After bringing a new city-funded truck into service last fall, the Pella Rural Fire Department has a new engine to use. On Saturday, they officially put their new Pierce Engine #711 into service with a ceremonial push into the station. The Pella Fire Department receives support from both the City of Pella and Lake Prairie Township for equipment — the first new vehicle that arrived last October was from the city, while the newest engine in the fleet was paid for by the township.
