The Iowa Attorney General’s Office is partnering with Alliant Energy, MidAmerican Energy, and the National Child Identification Program to provide all K-12 students across the state with identification kits. The kits will include tools to store a child’s DNA, fingerprints, and physical characteristics to help police trace their child sooner in the event they go missing.
The kit should take less than 2 minutes to complete, never enters a database, and should be stored solely by a parent or guardian, in a cool, dry, safe place at home. According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, there are currently 175 children 18 and under that are missing.
