Knoxville Boys Soccer Loses A Heartbreaker, Girls Win 4th Straight
The Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad has had the thrill of victory in overtime matches this season, but last night was the agony of defeat as the class 2A #12 Panthers fell to class 3A #9 Newton 1-0 in the second overtime as the Cardinals nailed a goal off of a free kick with just :40 remaining in the 2nd extra session. Knoxville Coach Dylan Mick was proud of his team’s effort but would have liked to won that match to improve their profile for postseason. Meanwhile, in Chariton, the girls blanked the Chargers 4-0. Janae Baker scored twice for her 8th and 9th goals respectively. Charlye Willis scored to also give her nine for the season and Hanna Linsley also got her 9th goal of the season. Ella Breazeale had 11 saves. The girls are 5-3 on the season while the boys are 6-4. The girls host Centerville tonight while the boys are on the road to Albia.
