The Pella School Board approved a name for the Early Childhood Center under construction at their meeting Monday. The facility east of Madison Elementary will now be called the Little Dutch Academy at the Viersen Early Learning Center. A presentation was given about Lillie Viersen, which can be seen here. She’s the first Pella Community School District teacher to have been born in the community, and taught for 52 years from 1875-1928.

Prior to that action item, the board toured the upgraded advanced manufacturing lab, meeting with industrial technology teacher Brent Ewell to receive an overview of the changes that have been made this academic year and what’s next.
