It was positive results across the board for Norwalk on Tuesday as seven Warrior spring sports teams were in action.
Record-Breaking Day for Boys Golf
Competing for the first time this spring, the Norwalk boys golfers dominated the 15-team Oskaloosa Invite, shooting a school record 18-hole score of 287. The Warriors won by 19 strokes over second-place Washington, finishing 7-over par as a team. Senior Cael Sherwood won medalist honors with an individual 18-hole school record of 66, which was 4-under par. Ryan Jermier placed third with a 72 while Braden Nicholson and Grady Sigrist also placed in the top seven with rounds of 74 and 75, respectively. The Warriors will play their only other spring golf meet on May 8th, returning to Oskaloosa’s Edmundson Golf Course for the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament.
Boys Track 2nd at Carlisle
The Norwalk boys track team had a great night at the Carlisle Wildcat Relays, recording numerous personal bests in placing second out of 11 schools. ADM won the meet with 123.5 points, followed by Norwalk with 116.5 and Carlisle with 115. The Warriors won five events, including a school record time of 1:33.91 in the sprint medley relay by Dillon Ranck, Landon Hochstein, Jacey Hutson and Ben Hanson. Also earning gold medals – each with a PR – were Tony Anania in the 3,200, Skyler Olson in the high jump, Braeden Carlson in the long jump and Maddux Borcherding-Johnson in the shot put.
Boys Soccer Wins 6-0
The Norwalk boys soccer team scored four second-half goals to put away Oskaloosa 6-0, improving to 5-5 overall and 4-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Jack Brown and Caden Endres both scored two goals for the Class 3A 7th-ranked Warriors. Grant Fletcher and Keilor Rodman added one goal each and Fletcher had two assists. The Warriors face Des Moines Lincoln Thursday at the Cownie Soccer Complex.
Boys Tennis Wins 11-0
The Norwalk boys tennis team improved to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the Little Hawkeye with a commanding 11-0 win at Oskaloosa. They will host Pella on Thursday.
Norwalk Singles Wins — Hayden Steele (6-0, 6-0), Adrian Bush (6-2, 6-0), Austin Mills (6-1, 6-1), Kaden Tomkins (6-3, 6-2), Drew Chambers (6-1, 6-0), Tyler Stiegelmeier (6-2, 6-3).
Norwalk Doubles Wins — Bush/Mills (6-3, 6-0), Chambers/Tomkins (6-1, 6-0), Carson Menke/Stiegelmeier (7-5, 7-6), Lane Juergens/Drew Lents (6-0, 6-0), Wyatt Black/Charlie Poppens (6-4, 6-3).
Girls Tennis Wins 9-2
The Norwalk girls tennis squad remains undefeated following a 9-2 home win over Osky. The Warriors won every match except the No. 1 singles and doubles spots, improving to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the LHC. They will host Pella on Thursday.

Norwalk Doubles Wins – Haskell/Johnson (6-1, 6-1), Larson/Aagard (6-0, 6-3), Grace Dehmer/Katie Thielen (6-1, 6-0), Sutton McNelly/Jina Fraser (6-3, 6-1).
Girls Soccer Wins 10-0
The Norwalk girls soccer team led 8-0 at halftime and finished off Oskaloosa by the mercy rule 10-0. Braelyn Clark led the scoring attack with a three-goal hat trick while Addy Wood and Tatum Miller both scored twice. The Class 2A 12th-rated Warriors improved to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the Little Hawkeye, and will play at West Des Moines Valley on Thursday.
Girls Golf 2nd in Triangular
The Norwalk girls golfers finished 1-1 in Tuesday’s triangular at Oskaloosa Public Golf, shooting a team score of 203. Indianola posted a winning score of 187 and Osky recorded a 226. Norwalk’s balanced scorecard was paced by Grace Chang’s round of 50. Ruby Hoch, Allie Soukup and Lydia Krueger all shot 51. The Warriors finished conference play with a 4-2 dual record.
