Smith’s -5 Leads Knoxville Boys Golf To Win At Moravia
Evan Smith fired a -5 (67) and led the Knoxville Boys Golf Squad to an impressive win at the Moravia Invitational on Thursday. The Panthers as a team carded a 307. Other scores were Carson Uitermarkt and Kail Arkema both with 77s, Noah Keefer scored an 86 and Beau Leisure had an 89. The Panthers are back on the course today at home hosting Chariton in PCM in a triangular.
Knoxville Boys Track and Field Dominates At PCM
The Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad wanted to load up for the PCM Invitational to see who would possibly compete at the conference. T.J. DeJong won the 100, 200 ,and 400 races. Kaiden McGill took gold in the 800 while Isaac Rankin won the 3200, Cole Carter won the 400 hurdles, Kaiden Smith took 1st place in the high jump while Ruger Kendall won the discus. The Panthers distance medley relay team also won gold.

Knoxville Girls Tennis Wins Over Albia, Boys Fall
The Knoxville Boys and Girls Tennis Squads were on opposite ends of 7-2 decisions against Albia on Thursday. The girls won their meet as the Panthers won four of the six singles matches including Janie Maasdam at #1, Kate Schneider at #2, Natalie Collins at #3, and Maddy Wells at #6. Knoxville swept the doubles matches 3-0. Coach Nick DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that while many of his girls do not have a lot of tennis experience, girls like Natalie Collins are using their athletic ability and finding ways to win matches.
DeMoss: “It doesn’t necessarily lend itself to just athletes. It gives those girls that are just out for the first time a head start, but it’s like anything if you put in the time, you can be really good.”
For the boys it was a 7-2 loss at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts. Jack Felton won at #6 singles for the Panthers while Felton and Konner Leslie teamed up to win the only doubles match for Knoxville. Both teams will now turn their attention to the South Central Conference meet which is traditionally hosted by Knoxville. The boys will play Monday while the girls will have the courts on Tuesday.
