taxes

Property taxes that were due by March 31 are delinquent and currently have an additional 1.5% penalty due. If these taxes are not paid by May 1, another month of penalty at the rate of 1.5% will be added.

Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette tells KNIA/KRLS News any taxes still due on May 1 will receive a reminder in the mail next week notifying them of the updated amount due and the upcoming tax sale which will be held on June 19, 2023. Any taxes unpaid prior to the tax sale will be sold at the tax sale.

If you aren’t sure if your taxes have been paid, you can visit the homepage of the website and click on “Pay Property Taxes.” This will take you to the property tax page which contains a couple of helpful links.

  1. www.iowatreasurers.org – This is our payment vendor where you can search your property to see if there is anything due.
  2. www.beacon.schneidercorp.com – This website contains assessment information, maps, a property tax estimator tab, and lots of other good information in addition to your payment history and copies of your tax statements.
