The Indianola girls and boys soccer teams played some of the top squads in the state on Saturday, the girls falling to Waverly-Shell Rock 4-0 and Urbandale 6-0 at the Urbandale Invitational, while the Indians boys hosted rival Southeast Polk in a non-conference matchup, falling in a heartbreaker 2-1. The Indians boys were down 2-0 until late in the contest when Dax Clatt hit a screamer into the back of the net to get them within a goal and striking distance with just minutes remaining, but the Rams defense held strong and Indianola dropped the contest.
The girls are now 4-5, the boys are 4-8, and both teams next play Monday in a Little Hawkeye Conference matchup against Newton, the boys traveling and the girls hosting. Action starts at 7:15pm.
