Marking the end of the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season meets, the Pella Christian boys golfers took second place in the Washington Demons Blue Top Meet on Monday, while Pella finished in fourth place.
The Eagles shot a 354 at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course Monday, which brought their three-meet total to 991 and clinch the conference’s regular season team title by 47 strokes. Dane Geetings was Pella Christian’s top golfer on Monday, tying for the second lowest round on the day with an 84, but officially finished in third due to a tiebreaker. Eliot Menninga also finished in the top ten on Monday, taking eighth with an 88. Deacon Branderhorst and Cooper Spronk each recorded a 91 at the Washington meet, while Landon Fransman and Isaiah Breems weren’t far behind with a 92 and 93 respectively.
The Dutch shot a 366 on Monday, securing them an overall second place finish in the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season standings with a total team score of 1038. Pella managed to hold off third place Oskaloosa by one stroke to finish runner-up. Cade McGinley tied with Geetings for the second lowest round of the day with a 84 but claimed runner-up honors on a tiebreaker. Cole Floden was among six golfers that recorded a 91 on Monday, but officially finished in 14th. A.J. Hoekstra, Simon Thoreson, and Luke Keitges were right on each other’s heels with a 95, 96, and 97, while Luke Naig rounded out the scoring Monday with a 102.
The Eagles boys golfers are now off until the five-team Colfax-Mingo tournament at Colfax Golf Course on Thursday, while the Pella boys are off until Monday when both schools compete in the Little Hawkeye Conference Championship meet at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa.
