Andrew Gibb of the Simpson men’s basketball team was named the NCAA Division III statistical champion in free throw percentage after the conclusion of the 2022-23 season.
Gibb made 111 of his 119 free throws on the year, including a stretch of 61 consecutive makes. Gibb’s streak lasted from the conference-opening win against Coe on Dec. 3 until Feb. 11. His percentage of 93.3 percent was the best in the country by a whole percentage point.

In addition to leading in free throw percentage, Gibb also ranked in the top 10 in the conference in total rebounds (sixth), field goal percentage (ninth), minutes per game (ninth), and scoring per game (10th).
