The Pleasantville varsity track teams ended a long streak when they hosted the Pleasantville Relays.
The Trojans held their first ever varsity meet at home on their new track. The Pleasantville boys’ team scored 132 points to tie for second place at the meet. The I-35 Roadrunners won the meet with 159 points. Eddyville-Blakesburg tied the Trojans for second with 132 points in the seven-team field.
First place finishes for PHS included Yusef Gulley in the long jump at 20’10.5”, Ross Stephens 15.57 in the 110 hurdles, the Shuttle Hurdle Relay and the 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams. The 4×100 unit ran Trent Jolly, Ryan Clement, Caleb Cook and Gulley with a time of 44.92 seconds. The 4x 2 team finished at 1:34.73 with Trevor Nickel, Clement, Peyton Major and Gulley exchanging the stick.
The other win was the shuttle hurdle of Nickel, Jolly, Cook and Stephens at 1:03.60.
In second place were Edwin Escalante high jump at 5’8”,Clement 100 at 11.40 and Ryder Thill 1,600 at 4:42.43. Trojan thirds were by the 4×800 team and Major in the 200.
Pleasantville Girls 5th Overall
Coach Aaron Fichter’s team was fifth in the team standings with 94.5 points. Nodaway Valley was team champion with 125 points.
Finishing first for PHS was the shuttle hurdle team of Lauren Furnal, Lillian Mason, Sophia Mason and Danika Park with a time of 1:11.90.
Pleasantville added six second place finishes headlined by the 4×200 relay team of Carly Gripp, Lillian Mason, Alex Blackford and Lauren Furnal in a school record time of 1:50.06. Other seconds were by Blackford in the long jump at 15’2.5”, Allison VanEllen in the discus at 33’0.5” and Sophia Mason in the 100 hurdles at 15.83.
The Trojan 4×400 team of Gripp, Kyleigh McConnell, Emmy Hiemstra and Furnal ran 4:29.28 for second place. Another second was by Emily Roe, Ashlynn McConnell, Kyleigh Seaman and Peyton Seuferer in the 4×8 at 12:03.30.
Trojan thirds were by Olivia Anthony in the discus at 102’3”. The PHS 4×100 team was third at 52.41 seconds.
