The Indianola School Board met in regular session Tuesday evening, which included a series of public comments from members of the Indianola Education Association (IEA) regarding the ongoing negotiations with the district. The current contract that is set to expire was initially approved by the then board in 2019 after a contentious negotiation process, and extended for three years in 2020. Negotiations have been taking place between the IEA and the district, and now moves on to mediation after no agreement has been reached by the two parties.

The board approved the handbooks for the 2023-24 school year, including changes to the K-12 handbook, activities, transportation, and health services, approved an agreement with GovDeals to all the sales of surplus property, and approved a change in food service meal prices, a 10 cent increase for student lunch and breakfasts, while the adult lunch went up by 70 cents.

The board also heard reports from the Human Resources and Policy Committee meetings.
