The Indianola School Board met in regular session Tuesday, which included a public comment period where members of the Indianola Education Association gave updates regarding the ongoing negotiations for the teacher contract. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News there is no agreement yet, he feels strongly that negotiations are heading towards a contract that everyone can agree with.

“We started negotiations early in March. We had some really productive meetings, there are just some situations within it right now that we are still hashing out and we’ll continue to hash that out until we’re completed. But up to this point it’s been a pretty good conversation back and forth, making sure we are representing both sides and doing our due diligence, making sure it is a contract that everybody can feel good about.”

Ihns also said the negotiations may go to mediation, but the two sides can come to an agreement before then and not go through that process.
